Its streets climb and curve along the creek valley, and its homes range from 1930s cottages and mid-century ranches to striking modern infill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The streets and homes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much of the neighborhood was laid out in the 1910s and 1920s, which explains its mature trees and varied architecture. Expect pier-and-beam bungalows, limestone cottages, mid-century homes with deep eaves and a growing number of contemporary designs. Lots tend to be generous for such a central location, and many sit on gentle slopes with views toward downtown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parks and green space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Millrace Creek greenbelt is the neighborhood\u2019s backyard: a creek-side trail runs beneath limestone ledges and live oaks, past the old mill race that gave it its name, with a neighborhood pool and two small parks along the way. Founders Park and the springs are a short ride north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eating, shopping and getting around<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mercer Street \u2014 with its restaurants, boutiques and a small music hall \u2014 begins just north of the neighborhood, and the Saturday market on the Depot Green is a ten-minute ride east. Downtown is about five minutes by car, or a quick bike ride across the Millrace footbridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good to know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Homes are zoned to Larkin Springs ISD schools; use the district\u2019s school-finder tool to confirm the schools for a specific address.<\/li>\n\n<li>Part of the neighborhood is a designated historic district, so check the guidelines before planning exterior changes.<\/li>\n\n<li>Some streets are steep \u2014 worth considering if you\u2019re planning a renovation or a new driveway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curious about Cedar Bluff?
